Possible Cash for Crash narrowly avoided and caught on Dashboard Camera

A motorist from Manchester was traveling home from Liverpool on the M57 and managed to capture a possible ‘Crash for Cash’ accident via his dash cam.

The BMW seen above had a male driver, female passenger and a child in the rear that looked around the age of 10. While traveling in the middle lane on the M57 they appear to ‘slam’ on their brakes for no apparent reason however the quick thinking 14 wheel lorry driver is able to make an emergency stop and avoided ploughing into the back of the BMW.

Crash for Cash avoided

Had the lorry been carrying a load the driver may not have been able to bring the vehicle to a stop in time and the results could have potentially been devastating.

The motorist has speculated that the driver of the BMW may have done this in an attempt to induce a road traffic accident with the intention of making injury claims for each person in the vehicle. This is not an uncommon situation as false/induced road traffic accidents costing insurance companies millions per year.

Many people are finding that dash cams are a useful tool to deter fraudsters from making false claims and had the lorry collided into the vehicle the above footage would have aided the insurance company’s investigation into the claim.
